Your first day at the track

Understand Racing5 min

Before you go

  • Bring photo ID for age checks.
  • Check that races are on (Seoul Sat–Sun, Busan Fri–Sun, Jeju Fri–Sat); simulcasts run on other days.
  • Set your budget for the day.

At the track

  1. Arrive about 30 minutes before the first race.
  2. Look through the official race programme: timetable, runners, jockeys, trainers and past results.
  3. Visit the parade ring about 30 minutes before each race.
  4. Watch the odds board, updated every 30 seconds.
  5. See the warm-up about 12 minutes before the start.
  6. Watch the race — it lasts one to two minutes.
  7. Results become official about 4–5 minutes after the finish.

In the parade ring, look for

A shiny, supple coat; bright eyes and calm ears; a long, springy stride; and no excessive sweating for the weather.
